What is a hill you will die on? Perhaps there are a few as an immigrant from Europe with quite a bit different cultural upbringing I’ve got some thoughts and I wanted to share them here.
First, I believe that everyone should leave their county, town/city, state, and country when and if able to get a bit of a worldview. I wrote a post about its importance here.

One of the things I see often on social channels is how people want religion BACK in school totally forgetting that this country is not built on religious principles. If religion ever was in school, it shouldn’t have been. I grew up with religion in school, well sort of. It was part of the curriculum in high school and a requirement – the school system I grew up with is quite different than the American system.
But all it helped me do is know the bible. It didn’t make me believe it. It didn’t change my character or my moral views. You can be good without believing in God and no I am not worried about ending up in heaven or hell – again I read a book and as far as I am concerned it’s a fiction story written by men.
And whatever you believe, cool. It doesn’t concern me, affect me, or influence my life in any way shape, or form.
It totally negates any changes the world has undergone. What once was considered good and indicated your class in society is now not so good. I mean let’s be real owning humans has always been bad and plenty of us are wondering why it took so long for people to get around to seeing/knowing and supporting that.
Back to the whole religious thing for a minute, I’ve read the bible, I’ve done the research, I’ve listened to scholars, and know that things get lost in translation. And at the end of the day, why does it matter to you who people love and are in a relationship with? Being in a same-sex relationship is not a sin or bad, it’s been around for centuries maybe not in the open although some works of art begs to differ.
I felt it was important for me to share where I stand and then you get to choose to be here or not. I am not telling you to leave.
I am a female presenting a bi-gender human in a heterosexual relationship. I am the parent of queer-identifying humans and one of my kid’s partners is trans.
None of my kids are religious – in fact, they all identify as atheists.
I believe in giving choices and not forcing them into something they “should” believe. I left the choice of becoming a Christian up to them.
And this is the hill I will die on:
- Let people choose the path they want to follow, you are not the boss
- There’s zero wrong with being LGBTQIA. PERIOD
- Racism is bad – as a German citizen some of the bullshit I see you’d get arrested for back home
- It’s not difficult to be a kind human being and not force your beliefs and values on people
- Abortion rights save lives!
And if any of this bother’s you, I am okay if you don’t support me or my art or whatever else I get into.
