I think updating and doing a quarterly review of my goals for 2023 – I do a monthly health update since that is a primary focus I have. I am holding steady as test results came back fine with a view of rechecks happening this year.

There’s fear in closing down and shutting things down that I once believed in with every fiber of my being and while I am not closing down the blog for The Rebels Den because it makes me money, I am focusing on writing here. I’ve closed down a few projects I was hanging onto and I can’t say I hate it. If anything it’s helped in such that it’s bringing me more clarity I didn’t even know I needed.
I think when we set goals we can at times get too stuck on them and when the time comes that we really should be reevaluating and refocusing we’re afraid to do just that.
I started the Rebels Den before the Pandemic with a clear mission in mind only to realize that perhaps that was just a distraction.
I know I am here to help remove frustration in people’s lives but that means removing my own first and I feel like I am doing a great job – so that’s cool. I’ll be sharing more about that.
But let’s dive into some of those goals I was mentioning earlier this year.
HEALTH
- Walk 3 to 6 miles a day – I am officially at 268 miles for the year and will need to get close to 6.43 miles a day to reach 2023 miles. I see a few rides on my bike to help.
- Hike every other week – I live by the Blue Ridge Parkway with plenty of trails to choose from!
- Annual Physical – since I just had one this will be in December.
Mammogram – done and dusted- Change diet – revising my plan and will be reducing potatoes, pasta, and rice and replacing them with low-carb alternatives, and I will be reducing my meat intake and increasing plant foods.
CREATIVITY
This is an ongoing activity and so far it’s been a bit of a miss. I’ve been focused on creating things for art events but feel like I currently have enough inventory that I can focus on some of the goals I have for creativity.
- Create 2 new Wood-Burning Tutorials a month
- Work on Guitar Cut out Wood-Burning that will be a special gift
- Use my laser to supplement income as well as for my own creative inspiration
- Create 2 Crochet Patterns a month
- Make art that excites me and brings me joy – currently recreating Brother Grimm Stories in pyrography.
FAMILY
This year is turning out to be interesting. An event that my chosen family attends was canceled and so a camping vacation was planned instead. And then I learned that a new grandbaby is on the way.
- Get wills done
- Find a notary for Power of Attorney
- Spend time with kids and grandkids
- Go on vacation with chosen family – see vacation + travel goals
- Visit my son and his partner

- Donate Animal Art to Wildlife Center for Auction

BUSINESS GOALS
I am going through some changes in business and life as I’ve mentioned above.
Get clear on what I really want to focus on when it comes to coaching/problem-solvingDeclutter projects started and decide on what to do with them- Write 4 books this year
Sign up as a Vendor at Markets + Festivals to sell ArtKick-off Around the Coffee Pot where I answer questions and share in-depth how-to’s.- Teach crochet and wood-burning by recording content for it
Launch the Self-Reflection Society- Update learning resources that I have here
- Make a decision on the Podcast situation – I lost interest – I prefer writing but want to reevaluate
- The income goal is $6500/month combined from all sources
There are always changes that are going to happen and being able to be flexible I think its a really important one. Whatever your goals were at the beginning of the year, well they can and will change. You don’t have to force yourself to keep going with them if they no longer align.
